For my redesign of The Cruel Prince by Holly Black, I introduced soft watercolor elements to contrast with the novel’s sharp, cunning tone, creating a visual balance between beauty and danger. The cover features an embossed acorn and sword—symbols drawn directly from the text—paired with delicate watercolor decorative elements. Each element is intentionally chosen to reflect the story’s themes of faerie politics, temptation, and power. The final design offers an enchanting, story-rich cover that feels both whimsical and foreboding, inviting readers into the vividly treacherous world.
